I’m Ai Takahashi, Ai means " Love " in Japan, a passionate, internationally trained hairdresser with over 19 years of experience. Originally from Japan, I trained and worked in Tokyo’s trendsetting hubs of Shibuya and Harajuku for 7 years before expanding my journey across Canada and Australia to learn English and grow as a stylist. I’ve now been living in beautiful Aotearoa (New Zealand) for 9 years, including 3 memorable years in Wellington. Now based in Auckland again!

My passion for hair began in childhood, when I used to brush my mother’s thick, healthy Asian hair. That memory inspired a lifelong love for beauty, style, and the art of transformation.

Throughout my career, I’ve specialised in:

I’ve studied colour theory and how to choose tones that suit different skin tones, and I’ve been trained to cut hair that flatters unique face shapes and features. Every person is different, and I believe haircutting is deeply personal. No two styles are the same. Sometimes, there can be a gap between what we *like* and what truly *suits* us. My job is to help bridge that with honest, caring advice and creative vision.

I’ve also had bad salon experiences before becoming a hairdresser myself, so I deeply understand how important it is to feel seen, heard, and understood. Now, I work privately by appointment only, offering one-on-one sessions where I can fully focus on *you*.
